We moved to the Berkshires more than 20 years ago because we wanted to live in a place where we like to vacation, so that every day would feel like a holiday, even if only for a moment. We’ve lived on Pixley Hill for almost that entire time. It’s a magical location, nestled in nature, featuring beautiful dirt roads, trails, a rail trail, and two rivers within walking distance. It feels like it’s away from it all, but it’s surprisingly close to everything the Berkshires has to offer. A few years back, we asked the owners of the land at the top of the hill if they’d sell to us. They agreed, and we built a house on the highest point on the road “from scratch.” We cleared some of the land, custom-designed the house, and made the dream come true. We used oak, maple, and beechwood harvested from the property for the finishes. The home you see now, we designed with our Berkshires lifestyle and aesthetic in mind.
